Active ingredients- dexchlorpheniramine maleate and Betamethasone.

Celestamine is from the steroid group of drugs which inhibits the secretion of histamines causing pain, swelling and inflammation.

Celestamine Uses

Celestamine syrup or tablets is used relief from certain health condition such as inflammation, swelling, hypersensitivity, redness and itching. It also has been prescribed to treat various skin problems, asthma, arthritis, Ulcerative colitis, allergies and Crohn’s disease.

Celestamine may also be used for treating various other diseases not listed above.

Precautions and warnings

·         Don’t use Celestamine tablets/ syrup if you are allergic to any of its active ingredients. Inform your doctor if you have suffered from any allergic reaction to dexchlorpheniramine maleate and Betamethasone in the past.

·         Inform your doctor if you have suffered from any of these ailments in the past. Conditions include Seizures, Diabetes, Osteoporosis, Myasthenia Gravis, Stomach problems, Intestinal disorders, Mental illness, psychosis, kidney troubles, liver disorders, heart disease, history of heart attacks, under active thyroid, blood clotting problems, high blood pressure, measles, Herpes, Chickenpox, Tuberculosis and/ or any allergic reaction to corticosteroids.

·         Consult with your doctor the benefit- risk ratio before using Celestamine syrup/ tablet during pregnancy and lactation.

Celestamine dosage

It should be strictly used as instructed by your doctor.  Don’t start or stop using Celestamine suddenly without consulting your doctor.

Celestamine side effects

Headache, constipation, diarrhea, nervousness, increase in sweating, sore stomach, increase in appetite, insomnia, abnormal hair growth on the body and facial area. Consult a doctor in case any Celestamine side effects occur and create problems.

Severe side effects

Rare reports of acute allergic reactions have been reportedly linked to the use of Celestamine syrup/ tablets. Symptoms include, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or mouth, chest congestion, shortness of 

breathing and heavy chest. Consult a doctor immediately in case any such side effects occur.

Other less common side effects which requires immediate medical attention includes severe stomach ache, irregular heartbeat, vomiting, nausea, change in menstrual cycle, black tarry stool, blurred vision, hallucination, change in weight, fever, sore throat, depression, acute acne, skin problems, swelling of  legs, unusual weakness and other symptoms of infection.
