Neozep
Forte
Active ingredients- Phenylpropanolamine, Paracetamol and Chlorpheniramine.
Neozep Forte belongs to the group cough/ respiratory and
cold preparation/ nasal decongestants.
Uses
Neozep Forte is an
over the counter medication indicated for relieve from cold and cough symptoms which
include reprieve from runny nose, hay fever, nasal blockage, post nasal drips,
watery as well as itchy eyes, fever associated to cold or flu, moderate to
severe body pain, headache and muscle ache linked to common cold, respiratory tract
infections, flu, sinusitis, vasomotor rhinitis and
allergic rhinitis.
Neozep Forte may also be used for treating other ailments
not mentioned in the list above.
Neozep
dosage
Adults-
one tablet 3 to 4 times every day.
Children more than 6 years of age- ½ tablet 2-3 times
every day.
Neozep
syrup
Adults and Children above 12 years of age– 15 Ml 3-4
times every day.
Children between 7 to 12 years of age- 10 Ml 3-4 times every
day.
Children between 2 to 6 years of age- 5 ML 3-4 times
every day.
Contradictions
Neozep Forte not recommended for patients suffering from
certain ailments or undergoing certain therapy listed below:

Patients hypersensitive to any of its active
ingredients.
·
Patients suffering from hyperthyroidism,
coronary disease and hypertension.
·
Patients undergoing MAOI therapy.
·
Patients suffering from nephropathy (kidney
disorders).
Precautions
Neozep Forte should be used with caution in
· Patients with cardiac disease, renal
impairment or hepatic injury;
·
Patients suffering from Glaucoma;
·
Subjects with diabetes;
·
Asthma patients;
·
During pregnancy and lactation;
Drug
interactions
Neozep Forte may interact and cause serious side effects
when used concurrently with other CNS depressant, MAOIS and oral
contraceptives
.
Neozep
side effects
Drowsiness, Gastrointestinal disorders, Stomach pain,
abdominal cramps, dry mouth, increased sweating, loss of appetite, and
epileptiform seizures (when used in large dose). Consult a doctor if any of
these Neozep side effects occur and become troublesome.
Rare reports of allergic reactions linked to Neozep Forte
have been reported. Symptoms include hives, skin allergy, rashes, and
difficulty in breathing, chest congestion, swelling of the lips, throat, tongue
or face. If any such reaction occur,
stop using the over the counter medication and seek for emergency medical help.
